"O darkening nightmare, take my foe and corrupt their mind!"

You tap into the nightmares of a creature you can see within range and create an illusory manifestation of its deepest fears, visible only to that creature. However, you can see the vague shape of the illusion as it races forth.

The target must make an Intelligence saving throw, taking 6d8 Psychic damage and potentially becoming

Frightened
and
Doomed
, or even suffering
Instant KO
.

A creature that is Frightened by this effect can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns to try and end the Frightened condition on it.

Critical Success (+10). The target is unaffected.
Success. The target takes half damage and is Frightened of you until the end of their next turn.
Failure. The target takes full damage and is Frightened of you for 1 minute and Doomed 1.
Critical Failure (–10). The target is so afraid it might collapse. It must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, it suffers Instant KO and is Doomed 1. On a successful save, the target takes 1.5× damage, becomes Frightened of you for 1 minute, and Doomed 2.


At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 4th.
